Here is the theological summary of one preacher’s lifetime of investment in a local church. Completing three decades of pastoral ministry at Bethlehem Baptist, John Piper gave a final sermon series on the doctrinal emphases from his years of regular preaching. These ten emphases, delivered first as ten sermons, and now edited for this volume, embody the legacy Piper hopes to leave. But these chapters are not the memoirs of a retired pastor. These are not truths to be stored away to collect dust. The vision of God in these pages is vibrant and poised to turn the world upside down. These ten doctrines, as Piper says, are “wildly untamable, explosively uncontainable, and electrically future-creating.” Immerse yourself in this vision of God in his splendor, and you will want to act, to build something. You will find yourself compelled to dream big and risk bigger for the glory of Jesus.
