
Donnell Hicks was born and raised in Miami, Florida. The youngest of six children, he grew up in a home spearheaded by his loving strong mother. Donnell's adore for writing came in the second grade when he won "Writer of the Month." Donnell's passion for writing led him to be an avid reader. The first novels he read were the hit series scary thriller "Goosebumps." Being blessed by God, Donnell found himself writing poetry, short stories, and reading every genre from Classic Literature to Urban Street Fiction. Becoming inspired by the greatest talented British writer Charles Dickens, and urban lit writer K’wan Foye, in 2006, Donnell wrote his first un-released novel called "Heart of a Brother." He knew by writing his first novel, his love for writing would eventually grow. In 2010, Donnell graduated with an A.S. Degree in Fire Science Technology from Miami Dade College, one year later in 2011, Donnell wrote and self-published his first poetry book entitled "Words from the Heart." Once again in late 2011, Donnell wrote his second novel entitled "Lyric’s Song” which debut on November 16th 2012 ending up at number eleven on UBAWA'S Top 25 Bestsellers of 2012. Before that, Donnell released a short story entitled “Youngblood.” Donnell is the contributing author of the anthology entitled “The Almighty Dolla,” is a columnist for Dream Pathways Magazine. As a result of Donnell's passion and effort he was chosen "Writer of the Month" for the month of October. He still resides in Miami, Florida where he's currently writing his next novel.
