As far as Lainey Colm is concerned, Pinetop, Arizona, has always been a quiet, safe place to call home. Tucked within beautiful pines and towering mountains, it's a vacationer's peaceful retreat and a city dweller's secret dream. Or at least, it was. Lainey has always heard the campfire stories, of course- the ones that warn her not to whistle at night, not to walk into the forest if someone calls her name, and not to stop her car for anyone or any_thing_ after the sun goes down. She's always followed the rules and never had any problems. Except suddenly, women are going missing, and it seems like Lainey might be next. Luckily, her brother's aloof partner- a homicide detective who Lainey has carried a flame for since the moment she met him- is assigned to the case. Perhaps life or death stakes are all it will take to finally push him to take that step that Lainey has always dreamed of. Possibly ending up as the final girl in a horror showdown is almost worth it, right?
