Ed grew up in Merrick, Long Island, and upstate New York (Windham/Ashland). He attended Georgetown medical school and is a practicing physician in southern California, where he and his wife now live and where their 3 boys grew up. Gunther's Cavern, for middle-grade and young adult readers (as well as for adults!), concerns a brother and sister who discover a cavern in their backyard in upstate New York—just like Ed always hoped would happen to him. But he would not wish the adventures the duo experience inside the cavern on anyone. Sierra Quest, an adult novel concerning a mismatched couple who meet in the Sierra Nevada mountains, derives from his love of hiking and backpacking. Culling the Herd, an adult literary novel / medical thriller reflects Ed's deep concerns about what we humans are doing to our planet and how a well-educated but misguided group is working to re-engineer the earth's future.
