Emmerson James Spurrell was born at the very tender age of zero. Despite his general lack of uniqueness when stacked up against the rest of the human race, he nonetheless strove to carve out his own path through life, resulting in events equally wondrous and disastrous. He started becoming interested in the craft of writing during elementary school, where he would write numerous stories, usually including Mario or the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and would write short stories for friends, family and teachers. At the age of thirteen, EJ discovered his favorite author, Michael Crichton. He devoured several of his books over the next several years, often in conjunction with a dictionary, and grew strongly attached to the genres of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. In 2008, he wrote Engines of Creation: Children of the Halo, and soon released it to generally positive reception and gaining a small, but noticeable following. In 2012, he completed his second serial, Persephone: Twenty Past Midnight. Soon after he gained full custody of his daughter for her high school years, and could not find the time to write. However, as of 2017, his daughter, Celes, has graduated with honors and EJ once again found the time to write, beginning with a long-planned science fiction project: Sol Ruin.
