Elena Amato, author of Gigi has Diabetes lives in Michigan and works as a Physician Assistant. Her passion is to increase education about healthy living and disease management. Elena is fluent in Italian and frequently visits her family and friends in Italy. The idea to write a children’s book on diabetes was sparked when a mother in the neighborhood approached her at her home in Italy during one of her visits. Soon, Elena noticed that many parents had the problem of not knowing the proper way to care for their ill children. Since then, Elena has devoted her time to informing families through fun children's book on how to care for their children and face obstacles as a family.
