Peter Milligan's story, with the art work of Duncan Fegredo, features an omnipotent and amoral, comic book superhero, Enigma, having sprung to life, to the surprise of his author Titus Bird, and Michael Smith, an adult telephone repairman and ardent childhood fan. As Smith joins with Titus in a quest to discover the cause and meaning behind Enigma's inexplicable animation, Michael discovers truths about his hero and those hidden within himself.
