The stage is empty, all the devils are here... DI Kidd’s break has very quickly turned into a secondment at the underfunded, understaffed Southend branch of Essex Police. While John was hoping for something a little more relaxing, Kidd can slowly feel himself getting over what had happened back in Kingston. Maybe the sea air was doing him a bit of good after all. But when a night out at the theatre descends into chaos as an actor is murdered live on stage in front of a packed out auditorium, Kidd knows he has his work cut out for him. Locking all the doors and securing all exits, he is trapped in an old theatre with a murderer. He either goes out a hero or in a body bag.
