Anyone with an interest in space knows the story of Laika, the first animal to orbit the Earth, but very few know that a cat flew into space too. Unlike Laika, little black and white Felicette didn't orbit the Earth - hers was a brief up-and-down-again suborbital flight - but she was just as much a pioneer as Laika. This is her story. It is a story without a happy ending. But it deserves to be told.
