Years after the lights blink out permanently in Houston, Texas, two small groups of survivors rule the abandoned highways and freeways, cautiously avoiding each other’s defined territory and fuel source. One group thrives on gasoline and the exotic sports cars and motorcycles that burn it, while the other consumes diesel in large outfitted trucks and semis. Both groups enjoy a distinct lifestyle of solitude and wealth provided by the sudden, unexplained ending of humanity, the surplus of available goods, and their ability to refine fuel, until tragedy threatens to destroy them all as they clash in a bloody feud. Jonas, the youngest member of his group, must adapt if he is to survive the raging inferno that threatens to consume everything he has ever known.
