Part of Series
A digital novella penned by Nathan Long, telling a tale set in Numenera's Ninth World and tied into Torment: Tides of Numenera. Part of the "From the Depths" series of novellas touching on the Red Tide. The Nil do all the work in Haref. Deep in the earth they dig for artifacts and ore, living and dying in darkness and never seeing the sky, while high above them in the Strata of the Sun, their masters, the Sona, enjoy lives of idle luxury. Avza wants to change all that. She wants to lead the Nil from the depths and bring the Sona down, but words alone won't start a revolution. She needs a symbol, and thanks to her artist lover, Sahi, she gets one - the Red Hand. But what happens when a symbol lives on after the war is won? Is an artist responsible for what is done under the banner he made?
