
On June 29, 2022, Sonny Barger died at age 83 after battling liver cancer for years. After serving in the Army, Barger founded the Oakland, California Chapter of the Hells Angels (HA) in 1957 and would be a HA for life as the face of this infamous one percenter outlaw motorcycle gang (OMG). Barger and other members of the Hells Angels would be convicted of serious felonies including drug trafficking, weapons violations, use of explosives with intent to commit murder and other egregious charges. Sonny Barger and the Hells Angels became synonymous with the counterculture movement of the 1960s opening the door later for Barger becoming an author, actor and international icon. Barger’s legacy is one of drugs, violence and a lifetime of riding the with Hells Angels, a violent crime syndicate that has been decimated by law enforcement with other one percenter groups.
