On Easter Sunday, 1972, Raul Ries had reached the final edge. Raised in an abusive home, Raul Ries grew up to be a man of extreme anger and violence. He had turned his rage on his wife and children, and she had packed to leave him. Raul sat in his home with his rifle, planning to kill his family, then himself. He even took his fury out on his possessions, using the rifle butt to destroy much of his house. He rammed it into the television, which came on, revealing Pastor Chuck Smith, mid-sermon. At first, Raul shouted back at the guy on the screen, but he soon began to listen, not only to Pastor Smith but to God. Raul fell to his knees, crying out toward the Lord.
