The future is not fixed - and even if you've got a map that lays it out, who's to say that the map itself is immune to change? At that point, the question becomes "Are these things that MUST be? Or that MIGHT be?" And how do you tell the difference? How far does predestination go? And what happens when you ‘know’ something is going to happen, and it doesn’t? When the conditions are right it doesn’t take much to start a landslide – with catastrophic results. When people are involved, how small a pebble can start a landslide?

Early Adopter
2013
Small things can have effects far beyond what their size (or even utility) might warrant. As in the classically proverbial case, for want of a nail a shoe was lost, for want of a shoe, the horse was lost, a rider was lost, a message was lost, and so forth to losing a kingdom. A nail is a small, almost insignificant thing… until you don’t have one. Or putting it another way, when the conditions are right it doesn’t take much to start a landslide – shoving aside tons of boulders, trees, telephone poles and buildings, and grinding the unlucky people who happen to get in its way into, well – small things of much less utility to their original owners. And the trigger of the landslide might be as small as a misstep nudging a pebble, which cascades into a terrain-altering event. The particular instance of one small, remaindered, heavily discounted cell phone - an item that would have been rather unremarkable pretty much anywhere from the slums of New Delhi to a street in Beverly Hills - found in the Nevada desert in high summer in a pool of liquid air in 1954 proved to be an interesting pebble that started an avalanche – and that avalanche gained momentum quickly after it was dropped. What will be left when the avalanche stops moving?

Early Upgrade Optional
2014
Small changes spark large effects - and the info on a single remaindered cell phone affects the lives of millions. In Moscow, furor results in untimely deaths. In the United States, electronics manufacturers find themselves in a quandary. And Future Tech itself? Well, how do you set up a complete college in just a few months? Walt Disney's got some ideas... In the end - it's all about people. Good or bad - they shape their fates, and the future. Volume Three in the Future Tech series - where the future as we know it is constantly changing!
