G.S. Youngling grew up as a US Air Force 'military brat' in Germany, France and Limestone, Maine during his formative years. Eventually settling in the Washington, DC suburbs of Virginia where he finished college at George Mason University; both undergrad and graduate degrees. He became employed by the US Govt. at the CIA before leaving and joining the Fairfax County Police Department where he retired as a detective honorably and decorated with over 20 years of service. He instructed Criminal investigations and defensive tactics at various police academies, and taught sociology and Juvenile delinquency at George Mason University, and in the Virginia Community College System. While with the Department of Justice, he became the deputy director at the Haitian Police Training Center in Port au Prince. Later he became an administrator of security at the Atlanta Olympic Games. He developed and presided over a private security investigation & protection firm for a decade and travelled throughout Europe and the Middle East. He finally retired again from the Department of Defense, serving as a law enforcement professional with the US Army - fulfilling two full tours of duty in Iraq from 2008 to 2011. He earned the Bronze Star (equiv) while on each tour of duty. He now lives in Tucson, Arizona and volunteers with the US Forest Service. He stays involved with relocation programs such as, Gray Wolf, BigHorn Sheep and Mountain Lion.
