Chased by a throng of children with kitchen knives and men wielding gardening tools sharpened into rapiers, Eddie has no idea what happened to the world while he was hiding in the forest. The highways have been cleared with thousands of vehicles rolled and burned out on the safety shoulders, and blood sits in thick pools on every horizontal surface. Our cities are all mazes of destruction and the only thing the murderous armies that roam the countryside offer is chaos, but why are there no bodies? Where are the police? No one will speak to Eddie through this rampage. In every lurid and violent confrontation, one thing is becoming more and more clear: We are GHOULS, and WE EAT PEOPLE.
