Gisele Stein writes magical women’s fiction with places like characters. Born in Germany, she spent her twenties backpacking the UK, Europe, and Asia, and has a secret soft spot for the Scottish highlands to this day. A former TV-producer from Berlin, she navigated an unusual career change after a restless decade of backpacking trips and TV jobs: she trained as a safari guide in South Africa and wrote three books about it in German, published under her maiden name. Encountering elephants, lions, and giraffes in the wild, she developed a deep appreciation for the natural world – a theme strongly featuring throughout her novels as well. During her Africa stint, she met her now-husband – an Aussie who whisked her away to Australia's South West – a charming pocket of the world she is grateful to call home today. An ocean-lover, she tries to spend as much time as possible by the sea and hopes to befriend an octopus one day.
