GL Charlebois is a writer/critic born in Quebec City in 1957. As a child, he toured Europe with his military father for three years being exposed to opera, theatre and fine art. He apprenticed at the Quebec Chronicle Telegraph where he reviewed theatre, music and film. He won the Clifford E. Lee National Award for Playwrights in 1978 for his play Aléola, which was subsequently produced in Canada, the US and the UK, in French, English and in an Acadian adaptation, as well as on TV and radio. He worked as a critic at the Montreal Review, Attitude Montreal, Montreal Mirror, Hour and Montreal Gazette. He created the Encyclopedia of Canadian Theatre. His short stories have been published in literary magazines in Canada and the US. He lives in Montreal with his partner.
