ENGLISH The Author: Halil Babilli was born in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1979. He was the firstborn of his parents who came from a multicultural background. His paternal grandfather was a refugee from Kosovo and his maternal grandparents came from Egypt. Halil grew up in Bakirköy which is one of the last actual multicultural neighbourhoods of Istanbul. He has Turks, Armenians, Greeks and Jews in his friend circle since the times he was a toddler. He learned curse words in different languages while playing in the streets as a child before learning them in his mother tongue. Growing up in such an environment played a substantial role in his character development. In 2006, he moved to the Netherlands permanently... At least he thought so at that time. Wanderlust won again and he moved to Australia in 2011. He lived there for some time. Bu in less than a year, he found himself in Brazil and after that, in New York. Halil liked New York and picked-up writing there, just to see if he can do it and maybe, to leave something persists through time. Still, he was calling Australia his new home and he moved to Brisbane ın 2013. Halil is married, with a dog and two cats. The Book: The protagonist in Khalil's book, Theo, is a crafty Byzantine weasel detective. Theo was born in the 15th century, in the Byzantine times and as a completely normal human. During the siege of the city by the Turks, Theo shapeshifted to a weasel permanently. Nobody knows why that happened. Though, there is a chance that Mother Mary might have had mercy on him. Theo struggled to get used to his new body and to the new owners of the city. But as time passed he adapted, just like everybody else, as there is no situation that a human mind cannot adapt, regardless he has a human body or not. His adaptation is also a reflection of the city's adaptation. Istanbul had a new body now. Turks flowed into the city though the former dwellers stood a firm ground. Theo is immortal and has an extraordinary ability to heal. He can get hurt and he does it a lot, but given some time, his body will regenerate. Nobody knows if this regeneration ability has a limit. During the last six centuries, Theo helped the Istanbulians to have a better life by solving mysterious problems. If you are haunted by an ancient Greek ghost, Theo can help you. A nightmare materialised as a djinn and giving you a hard time? No problem at all. Theo can solve the problem. Humans do not know Theo exists as a weasel as he contacts his clients through letters. The fee he demands is obviously not gold or any other material that holds substantial value. This would be an insult to a weasel who walks the tunnels extending like a spider web under Istanbul. As he has all the time he needs, Theo knows these tunnels inside out, and every now and then he stumbles upon ancient riches. Gold is no good for our weasel, but bologna is what he wants. Theo's world is immense. Khalil Babilli has six centuries of material he can write about and he intends to do it. Halil is already working on two Theo sequels.
