Hamish Williams (PhD in Classical Literature, University of Cape Town) is a lecturer in Classical Studies at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. His academic writing looks at classical receptions in modern literature and broaches topics such as utopianism, decline, hospitality, and the sublime. He is particularly interested in fantasy literature and modern rewritings of the Minoans. The first two volumes of his fantasy series, Tales from Basthinia, have been published: The Southern Tide (2021) and Under the Green Cloud (2025).
