The day after Christmas, parapsychologist Leonard Wise receives a distraught call from Doctor Susan Haring, a researcher and former lover. There has been a murder and her brother has been charged with the brutal crime. To help, Leonard goes to Portland, Maine, unaware that forces are in play to stop him. Publicity-seeking, pseudo-psychic Sister Claire and her husband Trevor try to take control of the inquiry. The bereaved father, gangster Anthony Marconi and his hoods try to halt Leonard’s investigation. Though assisted by detective Carole Winslow and reporter Tom Johnson, the body count grows as Leonard tries to learn the truth. To do so, he must uncover the slaughter of an entire family that began the ghostly manifestations at Hedden House.
