"I always thought the end of the world would be caused by a massive natural disaster like a tsunami or a world war three nuke explosion. But I hadn't expected this…" It all happened so quickly. Neither I nor my classmates had time to contemplate what was happening – or the extremity of the situation – as we watched the devastation unfold from the flickering television screen. The alarms were the next to go off, followed by silence when the electricity shorted. People panicked. Teachers screamed. Gas masks were thrown at us and we were told to run. We had been running ever since. Keeping ahead of the virus was key to our survival. Staying away from contamination was another.
