Hayley Rae Johnson was born on the east coast and raised on the mountainside in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. She grew up in a solar-powered house, which led to her spending more time outside or reading and writing than other children of that time. Her favorite past-time was to climb onto the low roof of her father's battery shed, notebook and pencil in hand, to write fairy tales and fantastical adventure stories. After getting her first two degrees at Colorado State University, she bounced around Denver for a few years, getting her corporate experience. It didn't take long until she missed the call of nature and she returned to her college town, situated at the base of the Northern Colorado foothills and a mountain reservoir, surrounded by glacial-filled rivers. Today, Hayley Rae is working in higher education by day, writing her series by night and golfing at any time in between. She likes hiking with her German Shepard and a glass of red wine after dinner.
