Young poets tell what it's like to be Black, Puerto Rican, Indian, Eskimo, Cuban, Japanese, Chinese- and American at the same time. They talk about how they live, how they feel, what they think, what they dream, what they hope for, what they're like inside. The poets whose work is collected here range in age from six through their early twenties. What they say is sometimes angry, sometimes sad. Some rejoice. But all cry to be heard. This anthology was created so that some young Americans could speak out for themselves and for themselves and for their brothers and sisters of all minority groups across the country. And so that other Americans who do not know them listen.
