Herman Bernstein was an American journalist, poet, novelist, playwright, translator, Jewish activist, and diplomat. He was the United States Ambassador to Albania and was the founder of The Day, the Jewish daily newspaper. Born on the Russo-German border (today Lithuania), he and his family emigrated to the United States in 1893.
