LA ALTA EDAD MEDIA se ocupa del periodo " de las edades oscuras " que, iniciado con las invasiones germánicas que acabaron con el Imperio Romano de Occidente, continúa con las vicisitudes de estos pueblos para crear sus propias estructuras estatales y culmina con la figura de Carlomagno, para desembocar, finalmente, en una nueva etapa civilizatoria a comienzos del segundo milenio.
