- Magda, how much longer? Marisa looked up longingly at the summer sun, frozen at the zenith, and adjusted the visor of her baseball cap again so that the shadow covered her face. That's all she needed, freckles! And how did she let herself be talked into this adventure, and why did she agree to this adventure! "Just a couple of days in the woods, we'll live without TV and phones, shake the book dust out of our ears! We'll swim in the lake and do nothing!" That's a great idea, of course. But could Marisa think that the restless Magda would drag her into the impassable depths of the deep woods! The holiday village, on the edge of which Magda's house was nestled, was far behind, and the two stubborn girls were determined to make their way through the bushes. It seemed to Marisa that they had been walking for hours, her legs aching from habit, the heavy backpack weighing on her shoulders, her back already damp with sweat, the short shorts not protecting her from the thorny branches. How surprised she would have been if she'd realized it had taken them less than an hour! Magda did not feel tired, although she was dragging a backpack three times as big and five times as heavy, was still vigorous and full of energy, purring a fancy song under her nose and having time to pick berries from the strawberries and feed a whining friend.
