Two years after making a wartime Thanksgiving promise to marry newly divorced Ree Garrison if he made it home, Matt Connelly is struggling with the scars war has left on him. After losing yet another job, he takes his brother-in-law up on an offer to do some maintenance work at the Ramshorn Hot Springs and Lodge, hoping the peace of the Northstar Valley will help him heal.
