Siggy J. Aleksov has had her world turned upside down. She had a job, a home, and a solitary life-no friends, no family, no pets-just the way she liked it. Now she has no job, no home, an extended family-some of whom are in the Underworld, others of whom are bears-and a camper filled to bursting with people who call her friend. Oh, and she has a boyfriend...sort of. Maybe. It's complicated. Before Siggy has time to sit down with a cup of coffee and think about the mess her life has become, she finds herself the target of poachers who traffic in magical animals (or at least their body parts), a consortium of mages who wish to register and study her, and a pissed-off sparklepunk Faerie assassin bent on throttling her alleged little brother. The world, it seems, is determined to nail Siggy's hide to the wall... Literally.

Deborah A. Wolf was born in a barn and raised on wildlife refuges, which explains rather a lot. As a child, whether she was wandering down the beach of an otherwise deserted island or exploring the hidden secrets of Alaska with her faithful dog Sitka, she always had a book at hand. She opened the forbidden door, and set foot upon the tangled path, and never looked back. Deborah attended any college that couldn’t outrun her and has accumulated a handful of degrees. She has worked as an underwater photographer, Arabic linguist, and grumbling wage slave. Throughout it all, she has held onto one true and passionate love: the love of storytelling. Deborah currently lives in northern Michigan with her kids (some of whom are grown and all of whom are exceptional), an assortment of dogs and horses, and a pair of demons masquerading as cats.
