Natalie Keller Reinert is the award-winning author of more than a dozen books exploring love, human nature, and the passions which make us tick. With an extensive equestrian background, many of her books are set in the world of horses and horse-people. Drawing on her professional experience working with Thoroughbred racehorses, mounted patrol horses, therapeutic riding, three-day-eventing, and many other equine pursuits, Reinert brings her love of the equestrian life into each of her titles. Writing has always been my passion. I was hooked from the time I won the third-grade writing contest for my story about Nita, a very sophisticated and well-traveled peacock. By high school, my stories had developed into murder mysteries starring my (mostly!) understanding classmates. These days, my writing focuses on relationships and explores the endless intricacies of family, loyalty, and love. I was born and raised in the tropical sprawl of south Florida, surrounded by beaches, horses, and lots of sunshine. Before becoming a full-time writer, I worked as a bartender and a massage therapist. In recent years, my wanderlust has taken me all over the world, and I've traveled extensively throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. When I'm not busy writing, I spend my time horseback riding, hanging out with my husband, or planning our next voyage abroad.

I have written stories and ridden horses–frequently simultaneously–for as long as I can remember. I grew up on Long Island and spent my formative years in the saddle–just imagining. After high school, I traveled to Ness, England and studied at a British Horse Society training school. This was an all-around amazing experience. When I left, I clutched a certification to teach riding in my hot little hand, and I enjoyed instructing riders for many years. Who am I kidding? We know it is the horses who do the teaching. All we can do is try to remain open to what they have to say. Now, I share a farm in Missouri with my family, but I have only one horse these days. Remi’s a Trakehner - thoroughbred - quarter horse cross, as easy a keeper and good minded as they get. We board him at a terrific place nearby. Not surprisingly, my stories are frequently infused with the mystery and spirituality horses have brought to my life.

Susan Abel has had a passion for writing, second only to her passion for horses, since she was a child growing up in the Detroit area. With writing assignments becoming her favorite projects in school, she completed her first novel at the age of seventeen, a story about a girl and a horse, of course. Following a twenty-plus-year career as a professional trainer and riding instructor in the mid-West, Rockies and Southeast, Susan returned to school to earn a degree in journalism at the age of forty as a single mom with two girls. Following graduation, she worked several years as a beat reporter and feature writer for various newspapers as well as for a private university group. Once her girls were grown, she returned to her passions: instructing with her own riding school again while writing “Through the Mist.” Ten years later, she finds herself teaching less and writing more each day. Susan currently lives in the metro Atlanta area on a small farm with her husband of ten years and a menagerie of animals. Committed to her writing, she has attended ten consecutive Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) Conferences to further her writing career. She loves to read, draw, ride and show her horses, travel on adventures with her husband and go on long hikes with their dogs. Having lived a diverse and well-travelled life, Susan has a broad expanse of life experiences to draw from, enabling her to flesh out characters, describe locations and understand the human condition in such a way her stories come to life in the imaginations of her readers.
