Hunt focuses on his Green River ranches and expansion plans Horse asks Hunt to help retrieve his daughter’s horse from a farm family that stole her pony. A large mob of bandits starts in Los Angeles, robbing and murdering as they travel. They go into Mexico, cross back into Arizona, travel up to Utah, and west to Nevada. Hunt and his men pick up the chase in Utah and begin the long ride, which includes ambushes along the way. Hunt was under orders to remain in Denver. Earl arrives in Denver to talk to Hunt about the trip. Hunt realizes his life as a lawman is in its final phase and discusses the future with Earl and who they should prepare for their replacements.
