Last Gasp

2022

Being a cop in the only nonhuman city in the world is tough. You’ve got magical and mundane crimes, standard and supernatural perps, and as always, plenty of paperwork for both. The different groups don’t often mix. Elves have elvish problems, goblins have goblin problems. Everyone takes care of their own. But with the rest of the world going to hell, literally in some places, this divided city has to change. Enter the Inquisitors, the first arm of the integration initiative to make a stronger, better Quadras. Spearheading the Inquisitor program are two cops who’d rather be anywhere but with each other. Doughas Ruiridh is an old warhorse from the Dwarven Quarter hoping to retire already. Esselliar VorKluvaith is a hotshot elf investigator looking to bust corruption, unfettered by a partner. They must find a way to work together and trust each other because something big is coming. Malicious factions are growing like cancers in the city, and their schemes could cost the lives of thousands. The Inquisitors will have to make this partnership work if they don’t want the city’s next breath to be its last.

Dire Song

2022

As interspecies integration continues in Quadras, the Inquisitors expect there to be problems. Change is hard, but integration would be much easier if people weren't so busy killing each other. Throwing fame and fortune into the problem creates a major headache. Doughas and Vor are doing what they can to survive another day in Quadras. They have their work cut out for them. Their only leads are smoke and distant whispers, gone as soon as they look closer. From dealing with politics to calling in favors, this was never going to be an easy case. The sticky strands of connection all point toward a conspiracy, and those who have something to hold on for refuse to dig deeper. Ignoring the gathering shadows could prove too dangerous to anyone threatening to shine the light of day on the plotters. But Doughas is too old for cautious nonsense, and Vor is scared of the implications for the integration if they do nothing. Can our intrepid elf-dwarf duo keep the city from tearing itself apart?

The tide of humanity descending on Quadras that the Inquisitors have spent over a year preparing for is days away. It’s finally come. Can the four-sided city keep it together just a little longer? That would be hoping for too much. From seditious sorcery to deadly deals made in dark corners, Quadras has never been more dangerous. Doughas and Vor have no choice but to dive right into the thick of the action or get dragged under by the current. But the case gets personal when Doughas’ family is embroiled in the malicious machinations of those willing to do anything to prevent full integration. The stakes have never been higher for the Inquisitors. When you mess with a father’s children, there’s only one way to deal with the miscreants. NO QUARTER! The question isn’t whether Doughas and Vor can set things right, only how much of Quadras will be left when they’re finished.

Hard Hand

2023

Quadras is seeing major changes, which means major headaches for the Inquisition. As the humans roll into the city, they need places to live and work. Infrastructure expansion comes with a whole lot of money changing hands. It sounds simple enough, but things in the four-faced city are never that easy. There are the usual shady contractors, corrupt inspectors, and greedy politicians to contend with. Not to mention the anti- and pro-integration activists clashing over their ideals. In short, it is a recipe for disaster. The only thing standing in the way of tensions bubbling over are the brave Inquisitors. Who gets the call when things heat up with a dead clan rep, a missing goblin, and enough political pressure to stop an ogre’s heart? None other than resident heroes, Inquisitors Doughas and Vor. But even our heroes are going to have their hands full as sinister undertones to their investigation emerge and the specter of a new threat to the city arises. How it will pan out is anyone's guess, but it is certain that Quadras will never be the same again. Can Doughas and Vor overcome the odds stacked against them and save the city yet again?

Shot Dead

2023

Quadras is no stranger to catastrophe, but the latest tragedy has the potential to spark an interspecies war. The sensitive political situation means that the Inquisitors can't leave this to the Vale Rangers. Whoever handles this investigation doesn't just need skill and grit but a keen grasp of public relations and supreme tact... …so, what are Doughas and Vor doing in charge? Perhaps it is a cruel joke. Comedy or not, the dead are demanding justice. The lads have no choice but to race along the enchanted razor’s edge if they want to keep the city intact. Along with their own skins. Dark Deed

2023

Some things refuse to stay buried, and no one in Quadras is ready for what comes next when they emerge. Doughas and Vor have been working around the clock to make the city a safer place since Integration brought the humans searching for a fresh start. There are still problems, from drug dealers to illegal enchanted items, but the duo’s relentless efforts alongside their fellow Inquisitors has been bearing fruit. They might just be making a difference. The Inquisitors take a breath and look forward to the possibility of wedding chimes in the near future. But dig deep enough, and bad blood bubbles up. Someone's been picking at the dirt like an old scab, and it’s up to Doughas and Vor to hold the city together one more time. With dark secrets clawing their way up from within and dire signs coming from without, maybe it's too much to ask that this will be the time their effort sticks. As a certain stubborn old dwarf said, “If doin’ what’s right were easy, then e’er’body ‘d do it.” Scroll up and click BUY NOW or READ FOR FREE to grab the sixth book of the series today and plunge back into the magical city that knows no rest!

Aaron was born to parents who taught him two very important things: truth matters and imagination is not a crime. Our protagonist has spent the rest of his life trying to live out those two maxims, much to the chagrin of every unfortunate around him (progenitors included). As such, by age six or seven, he was writing stories about a dark, reptilian avenger who brought final, painful justice to the guilty- with unsettling illustrations to boot. His beloved and benighted parents realized that budding sociopathy would simply not do, and so they began introducing him to tales of great and good heroes. First the account of a certain carpenter, then a hairy-footed burglar, then a savior lion, and after that point our protagonist was plunging face first and arms out into a world of heroism both real and imagined. While far from a hero himself, he has endeavored to try and capture that same bowed but unbroken spirit that dwells in a dark and ugly world, because that as far as he can tell is what makes it all worth while. Along this rambling, dreaming way he managed to find a woman he could bamboozle into loving him, and then even have children with, Lord have mercy on them all. Now Aaron has managed to cram no few exciting jobs and hair-raising experiences into his life so far, and God help him, he hopes for many more. It is these that drive his captured glimpses of something epic. If you have the time you should pull up a chair, grab a beer, light a pipe, or whatever your pre-literary consumption ritual may be and give them a look. It's been said they are truly monstrous, but as any true hero knows, monsters often guard treasure.
