Inner Thoughts is a window into the author's mind during the midst of her tumultuous separation and divorce from her husband of 4 years. The emotional turmoil from the divorce inspired her to pick poetry back up after an 8-year hiatus. She puts the deepest, most raw parts of herself on the page and trusts the reader to see her as she really is, unfiltered. Topics include divorce, love, depression, mental health, family, life advice and hope. Despite the specificity of the circumstances the contents of her poems will resonate with anyone that has gone through a difficult time in their life. This book also explores learning to love again after a traumatic break up. The poems are primarily in chronological order as written, emphasizing the juxtaposition of pain and happiness that she was experiencing in the year between her separation and divorce. Poetry provided her with a therapeutic outlet during one of the most difficult phases of her life, resulting in poems with a remarkable level of depth and transparency.
