Father of two sons and a daughter, author J. Michael enjoyed telling bedtime stories and the kids kept asking for more. Inspired by this success, the engineer-by-trade aspired to be a writer in spare time. After enrolling in the correspondence school Connecticut Institute of Children's Literature, several short stories were composed but unpublished. Not to be deterred, effort increased in the creation of two novels in the setting of ancient Ireland around 1000 AD. The adventures of young Deidre and Culain emerged as they become aware of greater destinies. Guided by Abbess Bridgit, the young scholars helped Angus in binding the pages of the Book of Invasions. As the story unfolds they become immersed in the pursuit of myths that become reality, ancient trees that greet them, wee faerie folk, and powerful adversaries. The author enjoyed creating these stories, but stalled after piles of rejection letters. Finally, years after the initial writings, he joined a group of self-publishing authors called Argon Press. Withiin four months, the Deidre's Dawn was published in 2016. Rising Darkness followed in 2018. Rising issues of chronic fatigue intervened and were followed by an unexpected pandemic. Discouraged, he wondered if the spark of Enchantment would return. Book 3, Star Lights is emerging. Its light will shine in 2024. J. Michael's children are now grown and the next generation is reading his books. "When does the movie come out?" asked young Owen. While that remains just a dream, the conclusion of the trilogy is in the works. J. Michael works his creative magic in West Michigan near the beautiful Pere Marquette Beach, the gem of the Lake.
