My sixth grade English teacher told me I could write, but she chose the worst possible way. She announced it to the entire class. Then she read my essay (a first-person account of a day in the life of my football helmet) out loud and asked everyone to comment. I overcame, though, and since then I have written for many outlets, including TV, film, and YouTube. But nothing has ever transported me like written stories. I always thought writers and musicians led the best lives, and I couldn't play a musical instrument, so... When I'm not writing, I'm cooking, planning what to cook, or watching cooking videos. Ask me how many videos I've watched about how to chop an onion. Add chef to the list of great jobs. If you're into Frank Miller or Alan Moore, you'll love the fast-paced style and plots within the Punch-Girl universe. Many of the villains would feel right at home facing off against Batman in DC Comics or terrorizing Spider-Man in a Marvel movie. Punch-Girl herself belongs in the ranks of tenacious women like Lieutenant Ellen Ripley in Alien and Sarah Connor in The Terminator. No matter the enemy, no matter the odds, Punch-Girl never quits. I'm always searching for my next read, and there's nothing like finishing one book in a series and immediately starting the next. Sign up for the J.M.
