In addition to Daughter, Undefined, Jackie Ruchti is the author of two children’s books, Jack and Almost Jill and Freckles Are Fabulous. Jackie's life has been a story of perseverance and self-discovery from day one. Through writing about her life experiences, Jackie discovers her true self. Themes of inclusion and acceptance appear in all her written works, discussed through the lenses of adoption, family, identity, and relationships. As a young girl, Jackie loved going to school. Her favorite part of school was library time, music, and art. She enjoyed writing poems as a childhood pastime. Jackie began writing short stories in college. An instructor who was impressed with her writing encouraged her to pursue a future in writing. But it wasn’t until later in life, and after the death of her twin brother, that she became passionate about writing. Her inspiration comes from adventures and memories of growing up on the Ohio River. She makes her home in the Northwest with her husband and their adopted schnauzer mix Frankie. She enjoys long walks at sunset along beautiful Lake Coeur d’ Alene.
