James R. Stocker is assistant professor of international affairs at Trinity Washington University. His research focuses on the history of US foreign policy and the Modern Middle East. His book, tentatively entitled Spheres of Intervention: The United States and the Struggle for Lebanon, 1967-76, was published by Cornell University Press in spring 2016.
