James S. Murphy grew up in rural West Tennessee, where his boyhood passions were hunting, fishing, and camping. He is a retired law enforcement professional with experience as a Patrol Deputy, Criminal Investigator, and Chief Deputy. He finished his career working for the State of Tennessee as an Investigator for the Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission in 2017. He has over 30 years of experience as a Man Tracker, both in teaching these skills for the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy and applying them to actual crime scenes, and in searches for lost persons and escapees. He has a passion for bringing his experiences to life within the pages of his book. Although fiction, the material echoes real life cases that he was involved with.
