First time author Jane Fulkerson is a wife, mom, grandmother, retired funeral director and served in the military in the 1960s. As she puts it, "After retirement I decided to write, to keep my brain from turning to oatmeal." What started out as a short story ended up being her first novel. Born in the Midwest, she has spent the last fifty years of her life surrounded by the stark beauty of eastern Montana and people who earn their living directly from the earth. This is undoubtedly a big influence in her choice of subject matter for her first effort. It would be remiss not to mention that she is also an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
