Golowanjuk was a Russian-Swedish author, actor and violinist. In 1937 his first and best-known novel, "My Golden Road to Samarkand," was published in Sweden. It is an autobiographical novel written from the perspective of a teen boy fleeing Samarkand at the outbreak of the Russian Revolution.
