Jax Black thought he was doing the right thing when he stepped in to protect a woman who had been attacked by two men. He didn’t expect a thank you or accolades, but he thought at least, he’d done the right thing… until the woman thanked him with a well-placed kick to the neck and a massive attitude problem. Homicide Detective Ember Penn is as tough as she is beautiful. But when she finally catches up to two suspected murderers, the last thing on her mind was meeting a hero the guy reminded her of a handsome lumber jack who thought she was a damsel in distressed and let her arrestees get away.
