The author was born towards the end of WWII in Bletchley, England, home to the famous code-breaking site Bletchley Park - "Station X." By the age of ten she had moved with her family to Stewartby, a small village just outside Bedford that was then home to the largest brickworks in the world. Between 1965 and 1974 she moved around the world, living in the USA, the Philippines and Crete before returning to England for good. Her career path took several unexpected and surprising, but ultimately fulfilling, twists and turns. Happily settled with John in Lincoln she is now retired although various activities and interests in fact keep her as busy as she has ever been. Among these are involvement with the local residents group. For leisure, reading still remains a great love and with her iPad and its apps she has also found new means of enjoyment. Trying to keep her mind in good trim with word and search games, crosswords and quizzes the author also loves to walk along by the river Witham from her home into the City of Lincoln, just a mile or so distant. Keeping her small garden in order is a not too onerous task and she very much enjoys baking. Her verses were all written after the author received a book of Betjeman poems from her sister, some 6 years ago. At times one poem follows hard on the other and then it might be a matter of months before the next idea comes into mind. Begun a few years earlier, and continuing alongside the verse, she wrote her childhood autobiography, "Bucks, Beds and Bricks," initially for curious grandchildren. The author has three children, each born in a different country and on a different continent, and six grandchildren. With all of them living overseas, in the USA and New Zealand, she has gratefully embraced the technology that enables instant communication around the world.
