My name’s Jeb Wright and I wrote the book Blast from the Past. The book takes place in the 1980s, which isn’t such a big surprise, as I have been accused of living in the past. Okay… I’m guilty as charged. I ran a very popular website for 20 years called Classic Rock Revisited.com that featured interviews with old rock stars. I love hard rock from the 1970s and the early 1980s. I also really love cheeseburgers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Here is a secret I don’t tell everyone: I was wild back in the ‘80s. It was pretty much out of control. I was a train wreck. Now I am a good boy. I’m just like that old Van Halen Song… “Big Bad Billy’s Sweet William Now.” You get it. So, I write about the past a lot. I make stuff up. I make people up. I borrow some from my past and fictionalize it. Sometimes, like in my book Blast from the Past, there is even a ghost- not a terrifying one, but one that smokes clove cigarettes and is an alcoholic. He’s based on my best friend…who’s dead. Oops, I forgot to tell you that I live in freaking Kansas. I’ve been married a LONG time to a sweet little angel of a woman…and I have two kids that are MUCH better humans than I will ever be. My favorite song is “Carry On Wayward Son” by the band Kansas. I keep hoping they are correct when they sing, “They’ll be peace when you are done.” So far…no go. But a man can hope.
