Jem Bruce was born in London in 1946. He took early retirement from his post as Assistant Director of the Environment Agency in 1997, moving shortly afterwards to Florida, USA, where he spent the next twelve years. Jem is married with four children and seven grandchildren and now lives in Sussex, England.
