I write crime novels set in Kansas, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. I have nine books out and two more in the chute. — Out . . . "Early's Fall" and "Early's Winter", books 1 and 2 in my James Early Mysteries series. Early is a Kansas sheriff. The stories are set in 1949-'50. — Out, too . . . "The Watch" and Rage", books 1 and 2 in my AJ Garrison Crime Novels series. Garrison is a criminal defense lawyer in Tennessee. The stories are set in 1967-'68. — Also out . . . Two Christmas short story collections, "A James Early Christmas" and "The Santa Train". — Out so far this year (2014) . . . "Iced", a contemporary crime novella set in Wisconsin; "The Last Good Man", a mainsteam novel set in Tennessee in 1988-'89; and "Capitol Crime", a crime novel set in Tennessee in 1933, while Prohibition was still the unloved law of the land. — In the chute and to be out in the fall, "Rub Out", my second crime novella; and "A James Early Christmas: Book 2", my third collection of Christmas short stories. Before I became a writer, I taught speech, English, and theater in Wisconsin high schools, then worked in communications for farm organizations for a decade in Wisconsin, Michigan, Kansas, and Colorado. I followed that with a decade as a reporter, photographer, and editor for newspapers in Colorado, West Virginia, Virginia, and Tennessee.
