As a child I always loved reading comic books and other light reading. I was never really one to read books of deep substance. I remember taking my lunch money in seventh grade and using it to buy comic books now and then. My parents were not happy when they figured out what I was doing and took my small collection away from me. It hurt watching them be thrown into the trash. Being a preacher's son was different, I was not allowed such books. After high school however, I collected them for a while before finally giving my collection to a young man who now writes for Marvel Comics. I moved on to reading novels, still lighter in nature for the most part. The Hobbit and The Talisman were the two I liked the most. I probably read The Talisman at least four or five times. If it had magic, action, supernatural abilities, I was in. In the past few years I read the Twilight Saga and most all of the World of Warcraft novels. Yes, I know, it is a video game but the books are fantastic and I found each of them hard to put down. In the summer of 2009 I decided to start writing a book of my own. I had the time and I was feeling creative so I began. At first I was pouring words onto my screen as fast as I could type. After page ten, I started slowing down. Two years later, I had not made it to page 40 yet. Finally, in 2011 I became more serious and finished writing "Gifted" in the summer of 2012. As long as it took me to finish writing the book, I never dreamed how dificult it would be to edit it. It seemed that every time I read it I found more errors. I am sure if I were to go through it again, I would find a period out of place. I am also sure that if an English major were to read it, they would find ways of improving it. I sent many query letters and recieved many rejection letters. After some research I found I could self publish on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. With some help from a fellow author, I obtained a nice looking cover and now am working on promoting the book. Gifted is the first of what will be a trilogy as I have already started on the second book tentively called Gifted: Birth of a Vampire.
