JS Bateman is originally from Seattle, Washington. A graduate of the University of Washington, he served 32 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Colonel in 2010. His military experience was mostly in law enforcement and antiterrorism, including three stints as Chief of Police. He holds a BA and MS in Criminal Justice, and an MA in History. Since his retirement from the military, he has worked as a public historian, and, most recently, as a gentleman farmer/novelist. He lives in Hyde Park, Utah with his wife of 30 years, Marcie, and an assortment of critters too embarrassing to list here. "On the Death Beat" is his debut novel.
