K.K. Chalmers grew up in a military family. She has lived on all three coasts of the United States, as well as in Southeast Asia. Her darkly humorous mystery, Murder In a Good Neighborhood, was the 2009 winner of the Best Unpublished Novel Contest sponsored by James River Writers and Richmond Magazine. She is currently writing a sequel.
