I grew up in the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado. As a small town girl, I had great friends but that didn't mean adolescence was easy. So when I entered my middle school years, I turned to books to escape the woes of being a teenager. Before I knew it, I was hooked. In books, I have traveled the world, been transported into space, and have saved many, many people. In fact, I love books so much that after teaching middle school social studies for a number of years, I became a Teacher Librarian. What a super fun job! My writing blossomed late, except for the sappy poetry I wrote in high school which really doesn't count (it did rhyme though). In college, I enrolled in a creative writing course and discovered that not only did I like writing but people enjoyed reading it. Over the years, I tried writing a novel but most ideas fell flat. Either I was trying to write like authors I admired or just didn't feel the characters in my gut. Then came Kaia's story. I dreamed of the ending of Allegiance. It stuck with me all day long until finally I began to ask myself "What happened in the story that led to this moment?". And so, I wrote about Kaia and her friends. Their stories unfolding like a film reel in my head. So, I hope you enjoy the book because it's only the beginning. There is definitely more to tell. So while you're curled up reading my book, I'll be typing away with my dog, Bear, at my side in my little brick home located just east of the Rockies and west of the Plains.
