German admiral and commander of Germanys war fleet during the second world war and last president of the third German reich. Dönitz was appointed as president of the reich in Hitlers last will. During his reign he offered an proposal for capitulation to England, but still wanted to keep fighting the Russians. England refused his proposal. After the war Dönitz was sentenced for crimes against peace and for giving out an order to not save enemy marines from drowning. He was released in 1956. He died in 1980.
